GETTING MY DRIVER’S LICENSE.

9:18:00 PM
I finally got my driver’s license! But you don’t know how long it took me to get that.

I started driving at the age of 14. I was a 3rd year highschool student. I told my dad to teach me how to drive and then he said that I should learn first the different types of gear. He also told me that he could only teach me every Saturday because I have class during weekdays.

This is the gear shift for a manual transmission. This is what i use.

After that, he bought an owner type jeep. I’m not a picky type person but I asked him why do I have to use that if I can use our own SUV. And then he said, “Dapat matuto ka sa mahirap na bagay para madadalian ka na lang sa susunod.” (“You need to learn in a hard way for it to be easier for you in the future.”). I used the owner type jeep for three months and then after that he decided to let me use our SUV.

This is not the actual owner type jeep that I used

This is what my I drive and it's not mine. It's my dad's. I'm just borrowing it form him.

My dad taught me the basics of driving, driving in different kinds of roads and situation, reverse driving, parallel and reverse parking and of course, defensive driving.

Geez I don't drive like this XD

One of my wildest dreams is to become a professional race car driver =D
Aside from that, my dad also taught me how to drive an elf-truck since we have one. He joked that once I learned to drive our elf truck I will be the delivery girl =D.

This is not the actual elf-truck that I also learned to drive

I finally had my first student permit on December 27, 2013 The processing time was just one hour. It's valid for one year.

I renewed my student permit last April 2016. Then on June 02, 2016, I finally took my driver’s license exam and got my driver’s license. (BEWARE: THE PROCESSING TIME IS 5 HOURS OR MORE).

It's just a receipt cause the ID is not yet released
Driving for 5 years and counting, I had experienced a lot of memorable moments like:
1. Driving without student permit. (Don’t do this. Its’ against the law)
2. Driving with an expired student permit. (Don’t do this. Its’ against the law)
3. Dangerous driving upwardly in a steep slope.
4. Almost hitting a young guy in Malinta, Valenzuela. (Well, I’m not at fault because he crossed the road out of nowhere. Good thing I pressed the break.)
5. 1st driving experience in NLEX. (That was during my dad’s birthday in 2014.)
6. Almost got hit by a car in NLEX. (The car unexpectedly went in to my line.)
7. 1st driving experience from Bulacan to Quezon Ave.
8. 1st driving experience from Bulacan to Pampanga.

Getting my driver’s license is truly a journey for me. I honestly admit that I did things that are against the law and experienced a lot but it taught me to be a better and responsible driver. Just like one of the questions in the driver’s license exam, your license is NOT A RIGHT but a PRIVILEGE. Not all of us has the chance to have a driver’s license so if you happen to have one it is a privilege so be a RESPONSIBLE DRIVER.

Six Movies That Changed My Life

8:30:00 PM
Six Movies That Changed My Life

1. August Rush
August Rush is the first movie I watched that have an impact on me. It is about Evan Taylor, a musical prodigy, who decided to run away to New York while his mother is searching for him while his father is searching for her. Wikipedia : August Rush

What I love about this movie:
The music is awesome! It actually gave me chills.

How it changed me:
After watching this movie, I became a fan of classical music. Literally.

2. God's not dead
God's not Dead is a movie about faith. Imagine what you will do if someone told you to say "God is dead." Will you agree or are you going to prove your faith? Wikipedia : God's Not Dead

What I love about this movie:
I love the how the movie showed the power of faith and the power of God. I love the part (spoiler alert!) when the student defended his faith and the part when the professor  retracted everything he said about God in the ending. The music of Newsboys is also awesome!

How it changed me:
My faith became stronger and definitely, GOD'S NOT DEAD.

3. 12 Years a Slave
12 Years a Slave is named as the best movie of 2013 by several media outlets. It is about Solomon Northup, a free African American man who, upon arrival to Washington D.C, was delivered to a slave pen and had to be enslaved for 12 years. Wikipedia : 12 Years a Slave

What I love about this movie:
It is very accurate. The movie showed how slaves were brutally treated before. The actors also delivered dramatic performance. I love the part (spoiler alert!) when Solomon was reunited with his family after 12 years. It made me cry a lot. Chiwetel Ejiofor (Solomon Northup) showed an amazing portrayal of how a man reacts after being away from his family for 12 years. He also showed a lot in his eyes that brought me to tears.

How it changed me:
I realized the importance of freedom. I realized how lucky I am to be born in a time where slavery no longer exist.

4. Me and Earl and the Dying Girl

Me and Earl and the the Dying Girl won the U.S. Grand Jury Prize: Dramatic and the Audience Award for U.S. Drama at the festival. It is a comedy drama film about an unusual friendship and how the characters cope up with their life knowing their friend has a leukemia. Wikipedia : Me and Earl and the Dying Girl

What I love about this movie:
I love the humor =D

How it changed me:
I learned the value of life. I learned to be thankful because I'm alive and well.

5. Dope

Dope is about Malcolm Adekanbi, a geek, who experienced discrimination due to the color of his skin. He dreams to go to college and the only way to do that is to become a drug dealer. Wikipedia : Dope

What I love about this movie:
I love how Malcolm proved everyone wrong because he had been underestimated. I also love his ending speech.

How it changed me:
I learned the value of education because it is the only thing that can change your life.

6. Schindler's List
Schindler's List is a masterpiece. It is in black in white because they wanted the film to have a sense of timelessness. It is movie about the holocaust and it showed how Jews were badly treated by the Nazis. Wikipedia : Schindler's List

What I love about this movie:
I love it because it is full of symbolism especially the girl in the red coat. (watch it to understand)

How it changed me:
Well... I'M SPEECHLESS. Just watch it. The movie is gripping.

FOOD : Strawberry Shortcake

8:23:00 PM
This is my own version of Strawberry Shortcake. I got the recipe of the vanilla cake from Life, Love and Sugar but I did some alterations =D. (Thank you Life, Love and Sugar for the recipe!)

Strawberry Shortcake
yield: two layer 8 inch cake

Ingredients

For the Vanilla cake:
3/4 cup butter at room temperature
1/4 cup vegetable oil
1 1/4 cup sugar
2 eggs
2 tsp. vanilla extract
2 cups flour
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1 1/4 tsp. baking powder
1 cup milk

For the frosting:
250 ml all purpose cream
1/4 tsp. almond extract
1/4 cup sugar
1/4 cup butter at room temperature

For the strawberry filling:
strawberries (plus extra for the toppings)
sugar
water

Procedure

For the vanilla cake:
1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Line three 8-inch cake pans with parchment paper in the bottom and grease the sides.

2. Beat the butter, oil, egg, vanilla extract, milk and sugar in a large bowl on medium speed about 2 minutes, until light and fluffy. Scrape down the sides of the bowl.

3. Combine the flour, baking soda and baking powder in a medium sized bowl.

4. Add about one-third of the flour mixture to the batter and beat on medium speed until incorporated.

5. Continue alternating adding dry and wet ingredients, scraping down the sides of the bowl as needed, and beating until incorporated after each addition. The batter will be thick and glossy.

6. Divide the batter evenly between the cake pans and spread evenly.

7. Stagger the cake layers on the oven racks so that no layer is directly over another. Bake for 30-33 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the middle of the cakes comes out clean. Don’t be alarmed if the tops are a little browned, that is normal.

8. Remove cakes from oven and allow to cool for 3-5 minutes.

9. Remove cakes from pans to cooling racks and cool completely before frosting.

For the frosting:
1. To make the frosting, whip the all purpose cream using a hand mixer or electric mixer until stiff peaks while gradually adding the sugar.

2. Fold in the butter at room temperature then add the almond extract.

For the filling:
1. Slice the strawberries into small pieces then put it in the small saucepan on medium heat. Smash the strawberries using the back of the fork to release its juice.

2. Gradually add sugar. It depends on you how sweet you want your filling to be. Add a little bit of water for the strawberry filling not to be so thick.

3. Remove from heat when it starts to bubble or when the sugar is completely dissolved. (NOTE: the filling should not be very thick).

To assemble cake:
1. Place first layer of cake on your cake stand or plate. (NOTE: The cake layers shouldn't have a rounded dome on top of them, but if they do, cut them off before stacking).

2. Add about the filling and spread into an even layer. (NOTE: Reserve the syrup from your filling).

3. Add a small amount of frosting.

4.. Add the remaining layer of cake.

5. Use the rest of the frosting to the outside and sides of the cake. Put some strawberries on top then  drizzle the syrup that you reserved a while ago.

drizzle the syrup =)
Enjoy XD

FRIENDS : POD

6:31:00 AM
Christmas Party and Birthday bash in Seoul Garden
HAPPY BIRTHDAY BETH, CAI, CAMS, CON!

POD is the abbreviation of my group in college. The creation of POD is somewhat unlikely as I may say. Its creation is like a joke but we decided to make it LEGAL J.

POD is actually a study group. The members of POD came from different subgroups and due to unexpected circumstances, these subgroups were united into one and POD was born.

Section 1 SubGroup =D
Sec. 2 SubGroup =D

Section 4 SubGroup
Being a member of POD makes me happy. They remind me so much of my TPK. Though there are differences between TPK and POD, I can say that these 2 groups have one thing in common. That is being genuine.

Summer 2015 with chai
Please notice the naughty girl at the upper right corner =D
POD members stay true to themselves. We like to eat a lot, sing together, dance together, mimic others together, joke around each other and of course, we study together. We always have each other’s back especially in terms of studies.

During lab class
Mang Inasal birthday bash
HAPPY BIRTHDAY VAN!
McDonald's birthday bash
HAPPY BIRTHDAY HONEY!
KFC's birthday bash
HAPPY BIRTHDAY CHAI, ATE ROB, CHRISTY AND AMI!
When I’m with POD, I can be my 75% self (100% self is in front of my family). I am never embarrassed with them even if I do something stupid.

Aside from studying, POD knows how to party! (of course). We don’t try to kill ourselves by studying.

POD members are not perfect. Each of us has a unique personality and sometimes we get to each other’s nerves. We already experienced difficult moments that tested our friendship. We had “issues” but we managed to solve them by talking to each other. We also had a couple of misunderstandings. Up to now, I believe that we still have a few more issues that we need to resolve but I don’t like to rush things. I believe that I should just let time decide when he is going to unravel those “issues.”

Now that we are incoming 3rd year students, I will not wish for POD to be together forever because WALANG FOREVER rather, I wish that POD will continue to be friends.

All I can say is that I will give my uttermost respect to the POD members decisions as long as they will be happy.

Honestly, I'm not yet ready if POD will be separated. But, no matter what happens, I know that POD will be friends. POD will remain a group that I co-created thanks to my wild imagination. And,

POD will be…     POD.
