IT'S MORE FUN IN THE PHILIPPINES!
Immaculate Conception Cathedral
First stop, Immaculate Concepcion Cathedral. This is a century old cathedral in Puerto Princesa. It was established on April 10, 1910 as the Apostolic Prefecture of Palawan when it split off from the then Roman Catholic Diocese of Jaro. It is known for its architectural design inspired from the churches in Europe.
Just beside the Immaculate Conception Cathedral is the Plaza
Cuartel. According to Palawan Board,
Plaza Cuartel was a garrison of Spaniards, overtook by Americans and then by
Japanese. When the Japanese soldiers realized that they were losing the war,
put all its prisoners in the dungeon, poured out drums of petroleum over them
and lit them up alive. There are eleven survivors who escaped narrated the
story.
