TRAVEL : Immaculate Conception Cathedral and Plaza Cuartel in Puerto Princesa

Plaza Cuartel
This is the 1st part of our Puerto Princesa - El Nido, Palawan tour last October 2016. Our 1st stop was Puerto Princesa. The day before our flight, we already prepared the things that we're gonna need like clothes, personal care products and an insect repellent (Malaria is endemic in Palawan).
prepared na prepared =D

Our flight was scheduled at 6 am so we have to be at the airport 1 hour before our scheduled flight.Unfortunately, it was delayed due to air traffic and  was rescheduled at 7 am.

The travelling time from Manila to Puerto Princesa is approx. 1 hour. We arrived in Puerto Princesa at 8 am.

HELLO PUERTO PRINCESA !

On our way to our 1st stop in Puerto Princesa, we saw this cute girls, seems like there is a celebration in Puerto Princesa.

IT'S MORE FUN IN THE PHILIPPINES!

Immaculate Conception Cathedral

First stop, Immaculate Concepcion Cathedral. This is a century old cathedral in Puerto Princesa. It was established on April 10, 1910 as the Apostolic Prefecture of Palawan when it split off from the then Roman Catholic Diocese of Jaro.  It is known for its architectural design inspired from the churches in Europe.

Plaza Cuartel

Just beside the Immaculate Conception Cathedral is the Plaza Cuartel.  According to Palawan Board, Plaza Cuartel was a garrison of Spaniards, overtook by Americans and then by Japanese. When the Japanese soldiers realized that they were losing the war, put all its prisoners in the dungeon, poured out drums of petroleum over them and lit them up alive. There are eleven survivors who escaped narrated the story.
